In Prep for Pocono, Coulter Heads Back to the Ballpark; Busy 10-Race Stretch on the Way
coulterpitch.jpg(HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. - July 28, 2010) - Second year ARCA Series racer Joey Coulter is set to kick off two straight months of racing with this weekend's Weis Markets 125 at Pocono Raceway. The Miami Springs, Fla. native isn't daunted by such a feat, but rather excited at the opportunity to showcase his talent at some of the most diversified tracks on the circuit.

"I am excited to get back racing at Pocono this weekend," commented Coulter. "It is such a unique track that it requires you to drive different in all three corners. I really enjoy the challenge it presents. Plus, the two-month race stretch starts here, (Pocono) and I look forward to racing every weekend until October."

Coulter will take his No. 16 Darrell Gwynn Foundation, Rip It Energy Fuel Chevrolet on track Friday (7/30/10) for the series only practice session, followed by Menards Pole Qualifying. He last traversed the "tricky triangle" earlier this year (6/5/10) where he was plagued by bad luck. First, when a left rear went flat on lap four and followed by a double ignition box failure after working his way back into the top-five. Coulter looks to shake the misfortune this weekend, while Coulter Motorsports crew chief Harold Holly will be bringing car No. 14, which last ran at Iowa Speedway (7/10/10).

Pocono Raceway is the perfect fit for the start of the two-month racing tour, as the three corner "roval" has been tagged as one of the trickiest tracks to circumvent across all racing circuits. With the start of the event weekend, through September 30th, Coulter will attend nine ARCA races, three sanctioned tests, and just for good measure, two super late model races. But the schedule doesn't phase the 20 year old UNCC student; he wants to add events and appearances at each stop, just to cap it all off.

Coulter's first appearance of the tour will be this Thursday (7/29/10) at the Lehigh Valley IronPigs minor league baseball game. Coulter will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before signing autographs for all of the day-camp kids in attendance. He will also participate in NASCAR night on Friday (7/30/10) at the Scranton/Wiles-Barre Yankees game, signing autographs and taking pictures for everyone in attendance.

"Our Pocono car should be another rocket ship," said Coulter. "Harold (Holly) and my entire team have poured their hearts and souls into our operation and their dedication is seen week in and week out with our fast racecars. Even with our misfortune last time we raced here, (Pocono) we were right up front and the car handled great."

Make sure to catch Joey Coulter and his No. 16 Darrell Gwynn Foundation, Rip It Energy Fuel Chevrolet in the Weis Markets 125 at Pocono Raceway. On-track activity begins on Friday, July 30, with live timing and scoring and live audio coverage of practice and Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell available at ARCARacing.com. The 50-lap, 125-mile race goes green at 3 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, July 31, with live television coverage provided by SPEED.
